Metroid: Samus Returns – Amiibo Scan Rewards List | Unlockables Guide

September 18, 2017 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Unlock extra difficulty levels, bonus Energy Tanks, and more with all the compatible amiibo in Metroid: Samus Returns. Here’s the full list of extras.

Metroid: Samus Returns features 4 exclusive unlockables you can only get with amiibos. All the Metroid-themed amiibo released so far add something to the Metroid experience, including galleries, music modes, and new difficulty settings. You’ll even get bonus Energy and Missile tanks for your troubles, but most everything requires a full game completion to explore.

It costs a bunch of money, and most of these amiibo are extremely rare. If you’re one of the lucky ones and were able to get your fangs on the two-pack Metroid: Samus Returns set, you’ll get the best of the unlockable rewards — a new “Fusion” difficulty that allows you to earn a unique set of armor for Samus that resembles her more biological, sleek armor found in Metroid: Fusion. There are more rewards too — check out the quick list below.

Amiibo Scan Rewards List | Unlockables Guide

There are four compatible amiibo for Metroid: Samus Returns. Some can only be scanned once for a single unlockable reward, while others can be scanned multiple times for bonus features in-game. Some features will unlock automatically, while others will only become available after completing the game once. It sounds complicated — it’s really easy, you’ll get multiple rewards for each figure.

  • Metroid: Samus Returns Metroid
    • Instant Reward: Scans the map and reveals locations of any nearby Metroids.
    • Game Completion Reward: Unlock “Fusion Mode” — a special harder difficulty that unlocks the Fusion costume for Samus.
  • Metroid: Samus Returns Crouching Samus
    • Instant Reward: One free Energy Tank. One time only.
    • Game Completion Reward: Unlocks an exclusive gallery of Metroid 2 art.
  • Super Smash Bros. Samus
    • Instant Reward: One free Missile Tank. One time only.
    • Game Completion Reward: Unlocks an exclusive concept art gallery.
  • Super Smash Bros. Zero Suit Samus
    • Instant Reward: One free Energy Tank. One time only.
    • Game Completion Reward: Unlocks an OST sound test bonus menu so you can listen to all the music in the game.

That’s not cheap for a bunch of unlockable extras, but if you’re a completionist looking to earn everything in the game, you’ll need to track down all four amiibo separately. At the lowest price point, you’re looking at $56.00 for all four amiibo.
