Since 2003, gamers have been patiently waiting for the release of Beyond Good & Evil’s sequel. Years have since passed by and still, there’s been no official announcement of the sequel, but Ubisoft did treat fans to a surprise announcement during E3 2017.
Ubisoft has unveiled Beyond Good & Evil 2 which is not a sequel to Beyond Good & Evil. Instead, the video game will act as a prequel. While we’re still waiting for new information to release from Ubisoft, here’s everything we know so far about the game.
What’s The Story?
Beyond Good & Evil first debuted back in 2003 and since then gamers have been itching to get a sequel. While Beyond Good & Evil 2 may sound like a sequel, it’s actually a prequel to the first title.
We’re still very much in the early stages of marketing so not too many details have been unleashed to the masses just yet. Instead, there is a small snippet of information about the game through the official Ubisoft YouTube video post.
“System 3 has become the center of interstellar trade and colonization in the Milky Way of the 24th century, thanks to the creation of Hybrid slaves. While private enterprises fight over resources and power, the first colonists weave together the rich and diverse spiritual and cultural heritages of Old Earth to give meaning to their existence. In this new era of piracy, we will rise from lowly pirate to legendary captain at the helm of massive star-faring vessels, adventuring alongside crews of colorful characters to fight for freedom and the right to determine our own fate among the stars!”
Players will work their way up from a struggling pirate to a captain of a massive star-faring vessel. Overall, the setting is based around System 3 which is a center location for interstellar trade and colonization into the Milky Way. During their journey, it would seem likely that there will be a fight to free those in slavery within System 3.
Characters
Being a prequel, you’ll be introduced to a whole cast of characters, some of which were highlighted in the E3 2017 Ubisoft trailer. Luckily, there is a small bit of information released about the characters and their names which were listed on the official Beyond Good & Evil 2 website.
Knox
A punk-ass hybrid monkey who is always looking for trouble.
Zhou Yuzhu
Hybrid pig, pretentious collector and ruthless crime boss.
Li Daiyu
Rejuvenated madam who runs Zhou’s backrooms.
Shani
Badass biker and ingenious mechanic of Somalian ancestry.
Dakini
Mysterious Captain of the Gada.
Release Date & Platforms
While a new installment to the franchise for Beyond Good & Evil has been teased about for years, the latest trailer shown off at E3 this year did not include a release date or specifically stated what platforms it would be launched on.
With that said, with a big trailer revealed during E3 this year and the response for the game at an all-time high, there’s a good chance we’ll hear more details before the end of this year.
