Capcom Unveils Certain Scrapped Features For Resident Evil 7

March 23, 2017 by Dennis Patrick

The Bakers originally had a pet dog Diane.

Capcom’s Resident Evil 7 video game release was a massive hit and one that’s still highly being played today. With the video game being such a success, some fans may be dying to know just how the development of the video game went.

Luckily, Capcom is releasing a video series going over their time crafting the latest installment to the Resident Evil franchise. Within the first video release, we received a few details in regards to certain aspects cut from the video game.

For instance, it turns out that gamers may have had to deal with a family dog during their exploration. Not much is known about the dog other than it would act somewhat similar to the other infected dogs from the franchise.

Given a specific name, Diane, this dog may have been something in which players could be fighting against throughout the game. Unfortunately, the pet dog was cut before being placed in the game, though according to the game director, Koshi Nakanishi, Diane would have played a major part in the dinner scene.

Furthermore, within the video viewers were given details regarding an ability Ethan would have had during gameplay. Apparently, during your journey, if an infected showed up, players can hold down a specific button that would cause Ethan to hold his breath.

By holding his breath, Ethan would have avoided some character detection though it seems that during some testing for this feature, Capcom found that players subconsciously held their own breaths as well. Because of players holding their breaths along with Ethan, they decided to scrap the feature completely.

Resident Evil 7 is currently available right now for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms.
