Black Ops 2: Multiplayer Modes and Playlist Customization Detailed

September 27, 2012 by Ian Miles Cheong

Treyarch has revealed the multiplayer modes it has in store for the upcoming Black Ops 2.

Black Ops 2

It’d be misleading to say that Black Ops 2’s multiplayer is getting an overhaul, but it’s certainly going to see a lot of additions and improvements in the form of game modes and rulesets—in addition to the class customization system, that is.

Treyarch today revealed that the upcoming game will offer a host of new multiplayer features, with a breakdown of the game’s various multiplayer modes.

Multi-Team

Black Ops 2 sees the addition of multi-team modes that allow up to 3 teams to compete against each other in multiplayer. This differs from the typical 2-team modes, which the game also offers. In multi-team, three teams can be made up of three to four players. Treyarch calls these “3×3′s” and “3X4′s.” Multi-team game modes include:

– Team Deathmatch
– Kill Confirmed
– Hardpoint

Party Games

Party Games replace Wager Matches from the previous Black Ops title. This time around, players will be able to earn XP and rank up, just as they would in regular progression. Modes include:

– Gun Game
– Sticks and Stones
– One in the Chamber
– Sharpshooter

Combat Training

Players can now experience a fully integrated combat training experience with Black Ops 2 by pitting players in combat against the AI.

Bootcamp – In Bootcamp, players can rank up from level 1 to level 10 while gaining full experience. The playlist is made up of maps in the Team Deathmatch game mode and allows a team of humans to go up against bots.

Objective – Players can rank up beyond level 10 in Objective, but will not earn the full amount of XP that they would otherwise get in a fullly human game.

Bot Stomp – No XP is earned in Bot Storm. A team of humans goes up against bots for the sake of practice.

Customization

Players can fully customize their playlists and game modes in Black Ops 2. Players now have the ability to place restrictions on certain guns and weapon modifications, perks, and equipment. Players can also change how FFA, TDM and CTS modes are scored, disable spectator mode, and turn off the announcer. And finally, bots can be added in as placeholder players until real players fill their slots.
