Dynasty Warriors Producer: Wii U CPU Power a Little Bit Less Compared to PS3, Xbox 360

September 21, 2012 by Alex Co

Dynasty Warriors producer Akihiro Suzuki admits that dealing with the Wii U’s CPU issues are a challenge due to it being less powerful compared to the Xbox 360 and PS3.

Another day, another story on how the Wii U is supposedly "underpowered." This time, it's Tecmo Koei producer Akihiro Suzuki taking a stab,

In an interview with Eurogamer, Suzuki admits that the Wii U's Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper is not on par when compared to the PS3's Dynasty Warriors 7 Empires; this applies to the game's frame rate and number of enemies on screen. Suzuki reveals that the Wii U CPU is to blame.

One of the weaknesses of the Wii U compared to PS3 and Xbox 360 is the CPU power is a little bit less…So for games in the Warriors series, including Dynasty Warriors and Warriors Orochi, when you have a lot of enemies coming at you at once, the performance tends to be affected because of the CPU.

However, Suzuki also claims that the Wii U is capable of having games that look better compared to the PS3 and Xbox 360. Though that still doesn't fix the CPU "issue,"

From a visual standpoint, based on the performance of the Wii U, we knew the game had the capability of having much better graphics than games on PS3 and Xbox 360. Make no mistake, from a visual standpoint, it is able to produce better graphics. So our challenge was to make a higher quality graphics. We were able to meet that.

While the visuals are great, as is being able to improve them, we had to deal with the lower CPU power and how we can get around that issue.

Well, hopefully, Suzuki and the rest of Tecmo Koei finds an answer to this issue soon as Warriors Orochi Hyper 3 is scheduled for a November 30 release.

Is this a cause for concern or are developers just not familiar with the system yet?
