The sequel to 2014’s Middle-earth: Shadow of Morder, is apparently in development. It will be called Middle-earth: Shadow of War and might just release this summer.
We have Target to thank for this news, as they are the ones who leaked the box-art for the game via an online product listing which was promptly taken down. However, the listing surfaced on Twitter prior to the take-down on Sunday afternoon which indicated a date of August 22.
Kotaku reports that the story of Shadow of War will focus around the same protagonists from Shadow of Mordor; Talion and Celebrimdor as they work to forge a ring just as powerful as Sauron’s.
Whether August 22 is a release date or just a target listing remains to be seen, but neither Monolith Productions or Warner Brothers has commented on the leak.
Shadow of War is rumored to be in development for PS4, and Xbox One.
