Square Enix is really hoping its Final Fantasy XIV reboot will be successful this time around. That's the only reason I can think of for them using music that's so familiar for Final Fantasy vets.
In addition to the music, the trailer also shows a lot of CGI instead of gameplay — a trademark of Square Enix especially during the Final Fantasy brand's heyday.
Watch the trailer now and see if it will tug at your Final Fantasy nostalgia as it did for me.
In addition to the details mentioned above, Square Enix has also shown off Limit Breaks in the game…or at least what they look like. Unfortunately, that's the full extent of the gameplay details seen above. Most of the trailer is made to rope in new players or to convince old ones that Final Fantasy XIV is a new game. Words like "A New World Awaits," are used as well as expansive shots of the game's world. But hey, at least Chocobos are there, right? That should account for something.
Can Final Fantasy XIV really be "A Realm Reborn?" We'll know for sure once the game gets relaunched for the PC and is made available for the PS3. If you're still wondering, the answer is no; there's no Xbox 360 version planned as of this time.
Are you willing to try Final Fantasy XIV? For those burned before, are you ready to give it a second chance?
