People Are “Speed Running” Club Penguin To See How Quickly They Can Get Banned

February 23, 2017 by Jordan Coetsee

But it’s not the speed running you would expect!

The end of an era is coming. Club Penguin is set to close its doors. And strange happenings are occurring, probably to mark the apocalypse of the Club Penguin world.

Recently, Club penguin has played host to a new phenomenon. Originating on Reddit as a comedic video, it has quickly grown into a full-blown competition formally known as “Speed running bans.”

The aim of the game is to see how quickly you can navigate the menus to make a club penguin account (using a fake email address – duh), then getting banned from the game – which is as easy as typing in a few profane words.

The motive behind speed running bans is unknown, but what we do know is that when Club Penguin does officially shut down on March 29, the servers will close and the World Record for the fastest speed runner will be recorded in the history books.

After the closure on the original Club Penguin, Disney will be launching Club Penguins Islands as a mobile game. Paving the way for new peculiar video game cycles.
