A new cartoon based on the Costume Quest games is headed to Amazon, as announced by Frederator Studios.
The cartoon is slated for a 2018 release through Amazon for Prime members. Frederator has also created shows like The Fairly OddParents. It was founded by Adventure Time producer Fred Seibert.
A post on Frederator’s website deals with thanking the various people involved, although it does not reveal what level of involvement Double Fine will have in the show. It notes that the writers will be revealed at a future date.
The cast is star-studded, featuring voice acting veterans Kevin Michael Richardson (The Animatrix, The Simpsons, Family Guy), Sam Marin (Adventure Time, Regular Show), Rob Paulsen (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Animaniacs), and Frank Welker (Aladdin, The Real Ghostbusters).
Amazon describes the Costume Quest series as “aimed at six to eleven-year-olds.” The basic premise seems to be similar to that of the games.
“The show stars four kids facing off against the dark forces lurking in the shadows of their sleepy town of Auburn Pines,” Amazon says. “To overcome obstacles and achieve their goals, they must learn to unlock and master the magical powers of supernormal costumes–with each costume comes a new set of transformations and powers.”
In addition to Seibert, the executive producers for the show include Will McRobb (The Adventure of Pete & Pete) and two more Adventure Time veterans, Kevin Kolde and Eric Homan.
