Fuse, formerly known as Overstrike, just had its first-ever trailer released by Insomniac.
At first glance, I admit, it quickly reminded me of another Insomniac franchise that involves shooting against aliens. I'm, of course, talking about the Resistance franchise which is owned by Sony. However, after a few seconds, Fuse does look different. For one thing, it's a third-person shooter that looks to be in the same lineage as Gears of War, and the game obviously places a heavy emphasis on co-op play as evidenced by the trailer.
Fuse's plot (or what we know of it so far) involves a stolen energy source called "Fuse," and Overstrike 9 is then sent to retrieve it. Naturally, aliens and guns will come into the mix to spice things up a bit.
Based on what we've seen so far, it looks to be a more "dudebro" game than Resistance ever was. And you know what? I'm kind of digging the vibe, to be honest. It doesn't seem to take itself too seriously, but is still a military shooter at its core.
Fuse still doesn't have a release date but is scheduled to come out on both the PS3 and Xbox 360.
