Konami has revealed that Raiden-headlined game — Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance — has been cancelled for the Xbox 360 in Japan.
The publisher posted it on their official Japanese site and states (via Google translate):
Due to various reasons, the launch of the Japanese version be made only PlayStation 3. We have been looking forward to the launch in the Xbox360, to everyone of the persons concerned, andsincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
Of course, this isn't really surprising since the Xbox brand has yet to gain significant traction in the Land of the Rising Sun. So, there you have it. If you're in Japan and you want to play Metal Gear Rising, best you have a PS3 to play it on.
Is this a precedent to Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes' future in Japan, too? For the sake of the 10 people who owns Xbox 360s in Japan, I hope not.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is being developed by Platinum Games and is set for a February 19 release in the US for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
Thanks, AGB
