Dishonored’s Second Video Documentary Episode Shows the Immersion of the Game’s World

September 11, 2012 by Alex Co

Arkane Studios has released a second video in its video documentary series detailing the creation of Dishonored.

In this second video in Arkane's developer documentary for Dishonored titled "Immersion," The studio talks about the creative process that into building the game's characters and world.

From art concepts to in-game assets, we get to see how the world of Dunwall is created. Dunwall, if you didn't know, was based on 16th century London and its architecture was heavily-inspired by that era's structures. It's just like BioShock's world in the sense that while the  overall setting should be based in the past, there are technologies within the game that easily surpass that timeframe — and aren't available even now.

Aside from the settings' art-style, Arkane also talks about the characters themselves and how they use British"morphology" in order to represent the game's cast. What I find interesting is that Arkane isn't even trying to make the characters look realistic. Yes, there's a human template in their design, but they pronounced things in a way that you should easliy identify what each character's role is.

Dishonored is being published by Bethesda and is scheduled to ship this October 9 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
