PSN Down For an Hour for World Wide Maintenance

If you are experiencing issues with logging into to PSN, don’t worry, PSN is down for a scheduled worldwide maintenance and will be back up in an hour.

Sony announced the news on the PlayStation Network server status page, telling PS4 users: “Routine maintenance and improvements for PlayStation Network will be performed for approximately 1 hour from 01/02/2017, 02:30 to 01/02/2017, 03:30 (Your Local Time Zone).”Anyone who already has an account can still sign-in to their PlayStation Network profile, play games and use most applications while this maintenance is carried out.

“You will not be able to access Account Management, PlayStation Video, and PlayStation Store during this maintenance.”

Apologising for the inconvenience, Sony typically recommends signing in before maintenance takes place.”We recommend activating your PS4 as your primary console before maintenance begins so you can continue to play most games and use 3rd party services during maintenance.

“To activate your console, sign in to your PlayStation™Network profile and select [Settings] > [PlayStation™Network/Account Management] > [Activate as Your Primary PS4] > [Activate]. You only need to do this once.

“We strive to ensure that PlayStation Network services are available at all times, but occasionally we must take PlayStation Network offline to perform essential maintenance and implement feature enhancements.

“We are working hard to reduce the duration of each maintenance.”

Scheduled maintenance helps Sony make important security improvements, which should make it harder for hackers to access your information.
