Development studio Team Ninja is well known for a couple different franchises. First starting out with Dead or Alive, the studio also found success with their release of Ninja Gaiden, though it has been awhile since we’ve seen a new installment release. That may chance, as a new interview with creative director Tom Lee and US Gamer brings up the return of beloved franchise.
The interview spoke about their latest upcoming video game release, Nioh, which was has been in development for a number of years now. This upcoming samurai hack-and-slash title recently went gold where gamers can expect to pick it up exclusively on the PlayStation 4 platform starting on February 7, 2017.
Now that one of their biggest video game development projects is coming towards an end, it’s interesting to see what their next main project may be. Speaking with US Gamer, Tom Lee admits that their upcoming release Nioh could be a nice pivot towards developing another Ninja Gaiden title.
“Maybe I can say that Nioh is a gateway into the next chapter for Ninja Gaiden. It’s a very important, if not the most important franchise for us. But at this point I think this franchise needs to be in the shadows for a while until we bring it back. There will be a time, and when the time is right, we will bring it back.”
For now, we’ll have to wait and see just what the development studio tackles on next. Right now, it will be interesting to see just how well Nioh does in the market. This is a video game title that first entered development all the way back in 2004 and soon gamers will finally be able to pick the title up.
