Head of Xbox Adds His Thoughts on Nintendo Switch, Mario and Zelda

January 15, 2017 by Jordan Coetsee

Spencer expresses interest in Nintendo’s new Platform

Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, weighed in on the launch of the Nintendo Switch and its host of games stating: “Mario looked new/fresh,” he said on Twitter, referring to Super Mario Odyssey. “[The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild] should be great.”. Spencer also stated that with the launch of the Switch, he will be interested to see how well Nintendo’s innovation will be integrated with games, Stating that it “will be fun to see what new game ideas come from that.”

Regarding Odyessy, Shigeru Miyamoto said this week that the game is on the “core side,” more in line with what Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine, exactly what the fans wanted.

Some analysts are looking at the glass half empty, predicting that the Switch’s hybrid nature won’t perform as well as the company projects, especially after Nintendo’s reveal last week when their share price dropped once again.

The Switch launches on March 3, priced at $300.
