Black Ops 2 Removes COD Points, Wager Matches, Adds Party Games

August 27, 2012 by Ian Miles Cheong

Black Ops 2 will see the addition of Party Games to replace Wager Matches.

Treyarch has just revealed their plans to remove the "COD Points" currency in the upcoming Black Ops 2. The COD Point system was added to the first Call of Duty: Black Ops as a way to unlock weapons, equipment, abilities and character customization beyond simply leveling up.

The system allowed players to participate in Wager Matches by gambling their points. The removal of COD Points will allow players to partake in a wide variety of game modes without the added competitive aspect this time around, so players can simply have fun—just as they should be having.

Instead of Wager Matches, players in Black Ops 2 will be able to participate in a wide variety of Party Games, which are described by Treyarch as "oddball, out-of-context, just kind of fun game modes."

"Party games is how we think about that – we think about them as you and I just goofing off, having some fun in this arguably slightly silly game mode. We love making those game modes, and they’ll be a part of this game too. They just don’t have the mechanic of gambling in them in that way, because there are no CoD points," said David Vonderhaar in an interview with NowGamer.
