While we just reported on Sony Liverpool's closing today, now rumors are circulating that the now-defunct studio was working on both Wipeout and a stealth game for the PS4.
This rumor was told by Eurogamer by whom they claim to be a "reliable source."
This source states that work on the Wipeout game as "far along" as it has been in development for 12 to 18 months. In addition to that, a separate source claims that a gangster style title was being developed before it evolved into something close to "Splinter Cell" but one that uses motion-capture tech similar to L.A. Noire.
Now keep in mind that these are all rumors, and in any case, Sony has confirmed that all of Liverpool's projects have been cancelled, so these games might either be already dead or moved on to another studio.
However, in saying all this, I think it's pretty much safe to say that Wipeout as a franchise, is most definitely not dead. No way Sony will kill off one of its most successful racers, no?
Would you want both games to appear on the PS4 or is it time for something new? To be honest, when I heard "stealth" game and PS4, I immediately thought of Syphon Filter. Could that be even it? I guess we'll never know now, no?
