2016 has been a shit year with the death of our beloved Alan Rickman and David Bowie – and now Carrie Fisher.
Yesterday the 60-year-old actress and star of the original Star Wars trilogy passed away due to a heart attack. With the world mourning this loss, fans and community members of Star Wars: The Old Republic held a memorial service in her honor.
Although the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic is set 3,600 years before the events of the original Star Wars film players came together as fans to honor the actresses legacy as Princess Leia.
Hundreds of players on the Ebon Hawk server journeyed to the Organa Castle on Alderaan – Princess Leia’s home world – to pay their respects. Reddit user CandianWomble put it in a remembrance post, “At this moment, there is no Republic or Empire – only fans.”
Players sat down, launched fireworks and chatted remembering the iconic Carrie Fisher.
RIP Fisher 🙁
