Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge Will See Improvements

August 15, 2012 by Jen Shaffer

Offering more than your average PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

In a talk with Eurogamer at Gamescom, Yosuke Hayashi discussed the ways Team Ninja is looking to set the Wii U version of Ninja Gaiden 3 apart from the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 version.

Hayashi explained, “We left out some of the things the series was well-known for. We did leave some of our fans out. We had this opportunity to put those hardcore aspects back in [with Wii U]. It’s kind of the hardcore fan package of Ninja Gaiden 3.”

Through feedback from original releases, Team Ninja is going to address both the good and bad elements and improve the title as a whole.Hayashi said the version released on PS3 and Xbox 360 had some “good elements and bad elements,” and the team plans to address the later on Wii U thanks to feedback from the original releases. Initially, polygons, characters, and stages had to be dropped to fit in with the Wii U, but Team Ninja is taking a second pass at the project as a whole.

“But the Wii U devkit has since improved and we’re now working on updated hardware," Hayashi continued. "The E3 version was not good.”

I played the E3 version. It wasn't horrible, but it also didn't feel like a properly translated Ninja Gaiden experience. Hopefully, the incoming improvements will amount to a better rendition.

Contingent upon the release of the Wii U, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge will be released something shortly thereafter.
