New DLC has been announced for Age of Empires 2, the real time strategy classic published by Microsoft. ‘The Rise of the Rajas’ is the third expansion for the game, which has a legacy spanning 17 years.
Age of Empires 2 is no stranger to updates and remakes, receiving an HD overhaul in 2013, and an expansion pack just last year which introduced new civilisations. According to the post on the official Age of Empires website, The Rise of the Rajas expansion will take place in Southeast Asia and feature four new civilisations: Burmese, Khmer, Malay and Vietnamese.
There will be four new fully voiced campaigns, new generic units (battle elephant and imperial skirmisher), and fresh environments, revolutionising gameplay as players trek through mangrove forests and dangerous beaches. In addition, the newest ‘amphibious terrain’ can be built upon, and lets both ships and land units pass through it.
Age of Empires 2 HD: Rise of the Rajas is releasing on December 19 via Steam. As an expansion, it requires the base game Age of Empires 2 in order to run.
