THQ’s inSane Now Officially Cancelled

August 7, 2012 by Alex Co

THQ has officially cancelled Del Toro’s inSane trilogy.

During its investors call earlier in the day, THQ president Jason Rubin has revealed that pre-production work on Guillermo Del Toro's inSane has now officially been canceled.

The game, which was planned to be a trilogy, was originally set to feature acclaimed director Guillermo Del Toro's (Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth) first foray into gaming. Del Toro was to work with Volition (Saints Row) on inSane and the first game was scheduled for a 2013 release.

Rubin states, "We have decided not to pursue further pre-production on Insane, and have returned all of our IP rights to Guillermo del Toro," and adds, "By canceling these explorations outside of our core business, we feel we can improve focus on our core game portfolio, which remains unchanged."

Now that inSane is officially no more, can THQ be working on its own horror IP or should they focus on the franchises they have cooking now?
