Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice Delays Explained

December 1, 2016 by Ian Miles Cheong

The creators of Hellblade explain why it’s taking them so long to finish the game.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was originally slated for release this year. Well, it’s not coming out any time soon. To that end, its developers at Ninja Theory have explained the delays and why it’s been pushed to 2017. The title was previously rumored to have been canceled, which is certainly untrue.

Slated for both the PC and PS4, the game is currently being developed independently without publisher meddling in order to keep the game’s quality up.

In a newly released production update (seen above), the developers state that they had to take the game back to the drawing board to sort out the game. They’re now working with Epic Games for better performance capture technology.

They state that had they developed the game in conjunction with a publisher, they would only now be announcing the title. But since they’re making it independently, they revealed it very early.

If all goes to plan, it’ll be out next year.
