If you haven’t given any of the games from the Bit.Trip series a try, you really should. Vividly designed and frustratingly twitchy, the neo-retro Gaijin Games series starring Commander Video are worth your time and tears.
Demonstrated during PAX East, their latest instalment, Bit.Trip Presents: Runner 2 is an endless-runner sequel to Bit.Trip.Runner, a musical side-scrolling rhythm game that made me toss my controller to the ground in a white-hot rage more than once—but was totally worth it.
The trailer shows off some of the new worlds from the game, embracing the retro aesthetic influence that inspires so much of the series. However, the end of the video reveals that the game won’t be out until 2013. There’s no concrete date or platform mentioned, but the game is said to be coming to “most PCs and consoles.”
On the bright side, those attending PAX Prime this year will get to take a look at the latest build, which will be ready and on display.
