QuakeCon 2012 is in full swing, doing things in Texas the only way they know how – big. To start things off with a bang, Bethesda has announced that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's Dawnguard DLC is now available on Steam.
The gaming community initially feared that the DLC release to the Xbox 360 was a sign that Dawnguard would have a lengthy PC limbo period. Pete Hines, Bethesda's PR Charles-in-charge, announced via Twitter that Dawnguard had not been announced for other platforms, or given a timeline for any such developments, but at the end of July, he came back to tweet that the public should "sit tight. We'll have info soon." And they delivered promptly.
Valve is keeping in step with the convention, offering up new deals for the duration of QuakeCon. Today's deal is The Elder Scrolls Collection, which includes Morrowind Game of the Year Edition (66% off), the Oblivion GOTY edition (66% off), Skyrim (50% off), and the Dawnguard DLC. The whole package ends up being $63.56, which is about the full retail price of Skyrim alone.
Currently the Bethesda and id game catalogs are 25% off – with some exclusions applying – but expect bigger deals between now and August 5th.
