Army of Two: The Devils Cartel Announced for PS3 and Xbox 360

August 2, 2012 by Ian Miles Cheong

A new addition to the Army of Two series is coming from EA and Visceral Games.

Army of Two

EA Games has dropped word that Visceral Games, the developers of the Dead Space series of titles, is working on a new game set in the Army of Two franchise.

Titled Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel, the new game is slated for release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in March 2013.

Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel is a third person shooter with an emphasis on co-op gameplay. Players will find themselves in Mexico as two operatives named Alpha and Bravo (creative stuff, I know) who work for the PMC called Tactical Worldwide Operations, or T.W.O. The two are dropped directly into the middle of an escalating conflict between rival drug gangs to complete a variety of missions.

“We wanted to refresh the Army of TWO franchise for a new generation of action gamers, and at the same time, stay true to the core concept that really made the first two games fan favorites,” said Julian Beak of Visceral Games. “With meaningful, seamless co-op gameplay at its core and explosive new tag-team features, gamers will have to work together tactically and strategically as they push through a city dominated by one of Mexico’s deadliest drug cartels.”

Like its predecessors, the game will offer both online and split-screen co-op, and will also allow players to distinguish themselves from their friends with the introduction of an advanced upgrade and customization system. Players will be able to customize everything from their weapons to the armor and mask that their character uses.
