Niantic has announced a double XP event today for Pokemon Go. Starting November 23rd, you will receive 2X the normal amount of XP and Stardust as you play the game.
The awesome thing about this is that Niantic is doing this in part as a thank you to fans who have supported their game since its launch in July. The develop had this to deliver as a message to the devoted players, “It has been an incredible experience since we launched Pokemon Go a few short months ago in July. We are passionate about creating experiences that encourage exploration and promote exercise,” Niantic stated in a recent blog post.
The double XP event runs until November 30, so if you’re looking to level up, now would be the perfect time to dive back into the game.
“We are humbled that hundreds of millions of you around the world have joined us on this journey. So we would like to say thank you–and what better way to say thank you than to celebrate our community,” Niantic added.
As for future updates regarding Pokemon Go, Niantic marketing boss Mark Quigley had this to say, “I think our lifespan and curve may be quite different from a free-to-play mobile game–it may be more in a Warcraft vein. We are more an MMO than anything else. Every two weeks there’s new content or bug fixes going in the game. There’s key content releases we’re planning.”
This statement is certainly an interesting assessment of the game and its mechanics. And we are certainly looking forward to more content and updates stemming from it in the near future.
