Bethesda just showcased footage from its upcoming remaster of Skyrim, called the Skyrim Special Edition.
In the remaster, the entire game will look a lot better than its vanilla counterpart thanks to upgraded textures and a host of new shaders and lighting effects aimed at bringing the game to modern consoles. Among various visual improvements, the new version has volumetric lighting, dynamic depth of field effects, and more.
Skyrim was originally released for the Xbox 360 and PS3, so the remastered version is intended to bring it up to par with the company’s other offerings on the PS4 and Xbox One.
One YouTube channel, FudgeMuppet, put together a video showing the newly revamped areas that fans of the game will have come to know and love. Check it out below.
Skyrim Special Edition comes out on October 28 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. PC gamers who already own existing copies of the Legendary Edition or all DLC add-ons will get it as a free upgrade.
