The Star Wars-Gotye Parody Video You Probably Didn’t Imagine

July 8, 2012 by Lana Polansky

How Gotye’s

Youtube uploaders Teddie Films have brought something very important to all of our attention.

Of course, that very important thing is the striking relationship between the Star Wars canon and indie rocker Gotye's hit song, "Somebody That I Used to Know."

The parody video, seen above, places an Anakin Skywalker spoofer in the context of the music video as the lead singer (awkward nakedness and all). As the video progresses, the equally-awkward, stop-motion body-painting turns up. Except, of course, in this case, Anakin becomes painted into Darth Vader.

Just as well, because this is supposed to be a duet, the verses originally sung by singer-songwriter Kimbra are lampooned by a George Lucas lookalike (er, well, it's close enough.) And true to form, he's naked too.

Putting that aside, this is a great example of fan creativity and a clever crossover parody. Give it a listen, and read the lyrics while you're at it (in the video description.)
