New Activision Leeds Studio Developing Call of Duty for Mobile

July 6, 2012 by Alex Co

Activision Leeds is the latest studio to join the publisher’s "Call of Duty" family. They’re in charge of making CoD on mobile.

Activision is tapping yet another studio to make Call of Duty games. The newest member of the "Call of Duty" family is Activision Leeds who'll be making iterations of the uber-FPS for mobile platforms.

This news was revealed by UK games industry vet Andy Payne.

Payne, who's also the chairman of trade body UKIE, revealed that Leeds studio will be heading up development duties on all "handheld" Call of Duty games from this point onwards; though it's unknown if the same studio is working on the portable Call of Duty game for the PS Vita — Black Ops: Declassified.

The studio, which was established in November 2011 with no announced projects, will be developing "all handheld versions, iOS versions of Call of Duty," according to Payne.

Aside from the Leeds studio, the last known development team from the publisher who joined the Call of Duty stable is Neversoft.

So, how long before all of Activision's studios are just making Call of Duty or Skylanders game? Are you fine with this or are there just too many cooks in the kitchen making the same kind of dessert now?
