The Elder Scrolls Online offers even more freedom and possibilities with the One Tamriel free update that Bethesda has announced today.

Launch today for PC and on October 18th on Xbox One and PS4. One Tamriel gives players more by removing many restrictions that are prevalent in other online multiplayer games. To begin, alliance restrictions (outside of PVP) will no longer be. This means players can group up with anyone in ESO, regardless of allegiance. Guilds can now assemble more diverse groups for their adventures, making finding a pick-up group when heading out on a quest, exploring a dungeon, and taking on a trial.

One Tamriel also opens up the world by level-scaling the environment. For veteran players, that means you can now travel with a friend who has just joined the game, without having to create a lower level character to match them. For new players, once you complete the tutorial, you can explore the entire world in any sequence you’d like. There will always be content skilled to your level anywhere in the world and any player can join you.

“The Elder Scrolls has always been about empowering players. In that spirit, One Tamriel makes the Elder Scrolls Online experience even better by breaking down social barriers and making it easier for everyone to have a great time together,” says Game Director Matt Firor. “Now veterans and newcomers – or members of the Daggerfall Covenant, Ebonheart Pact and Aldmeri Dominion – can all join together in our thriving community of players.”

Additional updates and improvements for the game include:

  • Players can now battle each other anywhere outside Cyrodiil to test their skills and builds
  • Zone Overhaul: All zones have been redesigned for a mix of solo and group play with improved bosses and standardized difficulty.
  • All dungeons can be played in normal and veteran mode, where story is separated from difficulty, and players are battle-leveled regardless of different levels, and they also receive appropriate loot.
  • The massive Craglorn zone has been redesigned to make it more solo friendly, but it still accommodates group content.
  • Loot in zones has been standardized like dungeon loot, making it possible to acquire specific sets in specific zones at whatever level you are.
