Gears of War 4 is now available to preload on the PC. If you’re buying the game, you’ll have to get it off the Windows Store. It’s not available anywhere else at the moment, but if it’s anything like Quantum Break, it’ll probably come out on Steam sooner or later.
The title’s preload first went live on the Xbox One a couple of days ago and is now available to preload on the PC, but you’ll first need to update your Windows 10 install with KB3194496, which came out yesterday. This should sort out any problems you might encounter.
In addition to the game, the pre-load also includes a day one patch. The game’s lead developer Rod Fergusson stated on Twitter that players will not have to download anything additional beyond pre-loading the game as the patch is already a part of the existing download.
Zero – it's all there now. #GearsofWar4 https://t.co/jEN0u5zUD4

The download weighs in at 73.3GB, so be sure to free up some space before initiating the download (or get a bigger hard drive). The game comes out on October 11.
