When it comes to upcoming video game consoles there has been a ton of talk about the Microsoft Project Scorpio and Sony PlayStation 4 Pro. However, one company still preparing to unveil their own latest generation console is Nintendo with their codename Nintendo NX system which is still very much unknown to the general public. One company that is in the know and happens to be very excited for its release is Ubisoft.
GameSpot was recently at an Ubisoft presentation event in which the company CEO, Yves Guillemot, spoke of his interest in the latest upcoming consoles, including the Nintendo NX. While speaking of the Nintendo NX, Yves Guillemot made mention of how gamers will naturally buy what they know, but when it comes to a new console and hardware innovation, there is breathable room to create something unique and new.
“The new Nintendo is a fantastic machine. It’s really a new approach, it’s really Nintendo, coming with something new again. We love it.”
This is where Nintendo does best as Ubisoft mentions Nintendo will be coming out with something new again, but just what that “newness” entails is still unconfirmed. Ubisoft’s CEO continues on to say that as consoles age, the ability to take new innovations and risks begin to drop, but what’s important to note is that the development team has more in mind than their upcoming release of Just Dance.
Yves Guillemot confirms that the development team has other projects in the works for Nintendo’s upcoming console release, but we’ll have to wait and see if there are any new IPs included in that list of projects or if they are unique takes to their already established franchises.
