Marvel Heroes 2016 Adds Two Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Team-Up Heroes

September 21, 2016 by Nick Monroe

Quake and Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes) show up.

The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show is getting a Marvel Heroes 2016 tie-in event. The game has been known to celebrate many Marvel multimedia occasions in the past (they made a big push during Captain America: Civil War for example), so this isn’t out of the ordinary for the development team over at Gazillion to do. The center highlight of this is the addition of two new team-up heroes to obtain. Players can get Quake and Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes) as sidekicks to take into battle with them. It’s a bit of an eccentric choice to have more than one Ghost Rider included in the game’s universe (as there’s a Ghost Rider available in the game’s playable roster of 59 heroes), but the more the merrier I guess. With the event itself, players choose a side in a war between the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and HYDRA. They’ll gather intelligence and battle members of the other faction in return for rewards and prizes. The event kicked off yesterday on the same day of the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premiere on ABC, and it runs through to the 30th.

If you haven’t tried out Marvel Heroes 2016 yet, there’s a great opportunity to do it right now. The combat and hero powers system is getting a massive overhaul within the next month. The Lead Systems Designer made an extensive post going over the changes they’ve got planned, and reading it over will help familiarize you with the level of depth Marvel Heroes 2016 aims for. While the development team has delivered a consistent release of updates over the course of this game’s lifetime, this upcoming overhaul that begins public testing in October is a standout. Speaking from personal experience after I tried the game out earlier this year, I can say as a matter of fact that Marvel Heroes 2016 certainly has enough free content to keep your attention for a fairly long stretch of time.

In related news, Mark Rubin of Infinity Ward has joined the ranks of Gazillion as a member of the Board of Directors.

“I’ve been a loyal player of Marvel Heroes 2016 for quite some time now, and I am especially impressed with the team’s dedication to improving every aspect of the game. Its accolades are well earned,” Rubin said. “I also love what Gazillion has in its pipeline. And though that certainly involves plenty more for Marvel Heroes, it also extends to other projects such as the upcoming DEXTER mobile game and several other cool games in early development. This company is going to surprise some people.”

Marvel Heroes 2016 is free-to-play and available now for PC and Mac. To learn more about the game, check out their website, Twitter, and Facebook.
