Recently close to 12,000 legit Modern Warfare 2 players were banned on steam for no reason due to some issues in Valve’s Steamworks platform. According to various sources, “the problem was that Steam would fail a signature check between the disk version of a DLL and a latent memory version.” Well, the issue was quickly spotted by Valve engineers and they did something that is unheard of in the gaming industry, but something which we can only expect from Valve(an act of kindness).
Gabe Newell himself sent out a batch email to those who were affected by the Ban, apologizing for any frustration that the incident might have caused. The players were unbanned immediately and Valve also decided to give the affected two digital copies of Left4Dead 2 Free-of-cost, one for themselves(if they didn’t have one already) and another to gift a friend.
