Minecraft Wedding Will Make Your Heart Melt And Tickle Your Nerd Boner

June 6, 2012 by Addison Langford

Matt Dunn and Asia Ramirez recently tied the knot and did so in a fantastically nerdy manner.

If there’s one thing I'm a sucker for, it's a nerdy wedding. I'm also a bit of a Minecraft fanatic, so it was pretty spectacular to see the Minecraft-themed wedding held by Matt Dunn and Asia Ramirez. The wedding was decked out with 100+ boxes painted to look like the blocks that the world of Minecraft is made out of. There were chickens, ducks, dogs, trees, a cave and much more created by friends and family to complete the feeling of being inside their own Minecraft world.

Matt and Asia met at church and shared an interest in art and in being creative. Matt told Yahoo Games about his wedding day and his experience with Minecraft and his experiences with the game and his new bride

"I will never forget the very first time Asia and I joined a game of Minecraft together," Matt said. "We were just standing there, in awe of this beautiful eight-bit world before us. But we quickly started searching for a place to build a house. I told Asia that the 'bad guys come out at night,' and having seen me play the game previously, she didn't want to waste any time getting shelter. We found a nice spot overlooking a cove — Asia picked it for the view — and we immediately made a crude house out of dirt and wood."

"Once things got built, she realized that we didn't have any food, so she kicked me out to find some wild pigs and cows to hunt. While I was out, I would look over at her face and her eyes were glowing with excitement. This wasn't just a building game. This was her time to build a home with the guy she loved. After a while I noticed she was giggling, so I ran back home to find that she had built a sign in the doorway with 'I love you :)' written on it. Suffice to say, my heart melted then, and I'm pretty sure it's remained a puddle since”

"I first heard of Minecraft toward the end of July 2009, when the game was in its alpha phase of development," Matt said. "Knowing Asia's own affinity for art, video games, and other creative activities, I showed her the game soon after I started playing it. She instantly became as addicted as I was."

I must say, their story is endearing. I wish them both the best of luck and hope their story brings a smile to your face the way it did mine.
