Sony’s Conference won’t be on Spike, Here’s Why…

June 3, 2012 by Mat Growcott

If you were planning to watch E3 on Spike or GT.TV, there’s one rather important conference that won’t be available to you.

If you're expecting to watch all the latest news about the future of the PlayStation brand this week at E3, you'll have to watch it via your PC. Sony won't be making an appearance on Spike, nor on GT.TV. There's no doubt a bevy of conspiracy theories floating round, not least that Viacom own Spike and are partners with Microsoft, but the truth is much simpler.

Geoff Keighely responded to the question from ControllUS on Twitter. His answer probably sums up 90% of the gaming world's mysteries and isn't especially deep: "We couldn't work out a deal, simple as that." Did Sony want extra time? Did they want the stream broadcast into PlayStation Home? It's fun to guess but, business being what it is, impossible to know.

Still, it's not a huge hardship, there are other places to watch the Sony conference and they're usually only a few clicks away.
