The Xbox One’s backwards compatibility library adds another title today. Microsoft’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb announced on Twitter that the Xbox 360 version of the 1982 arcade classic Joust has been added.
If you already owned Joust on the 360 it should show up automatically in your Xbox One game library. The game costs $5 and is a relatively small file, only 18.2 MB.
The premise of the arcade classic Joust involves the player taking on the role of a lance-wielding knight, controlling a flying ostrich. Yes, you read that right.
You defeat waves of enemies who are also on birds through waves that increase in difficulty. There is two-player support both locally and online.
Joust is the second game to be introduced with Xbox One backwards compatibility this week, following Call of Duty 2 (with an improved frame rate) which launched in Tuesday.
The Xbox One’s backwards compatibility feature has been available since November 2015 and has generated an “overwhelming” response according to Microsoft.
There are now more than 230 games in the Xbox One’s backwards compatibility lineup.
