When it comes to Civilization VI, the team over at Firaxis Games thought it was best to introduce the countries of the game over time on a video by video basis. Previously, we’ve had the chance to meet Germany, Scythia, and France, among others. Today, Spain makes it’s debut.
In the “Golden Age” of Spain, Philip II was the leader of the country. This was an era of growth for the cultural arts, guided by his steady hand in governance. Spain’s “Treasure Fleet” special ability gives intercontinental trade routes extra yields as a result. They also have the ability to combine ships into fleets at a earlier point than other civilizations. Philip’s “El Escorial” ability gives his units a combat bonus against enemies that follow other religions, and his inquisitors can remove heresy an additional time. The Conquistador unique unit gets a massive bonus when missionaries, inquistadors, or apostale in the nearby area, and if they’re adjacent to a city when it’s captured, the city automatically converts to Spain’s religion. The “Mission” improvement provides additional faith when built on a different continent that isn’t the capital, and it provides science when built next to a campus.
Civilization VI arrives on October 21st for PC (Mac/Linux). To stay in the loop about the game, check out their website, Twitter, and Facebook.
