EA Supports Nintendo, “They Deserve to Be Successful”

August 22, 2016 by Kris Kittie

“Whenever they bring something to market that we see an addressable market for, we’ll be there.”

Electronic Arts will bring games to Nintendo NX’s console if it sees the system as reaching what they call an “addressable market.” This is according to EA executive vice Patrick Soderlund.

He said this in a new interview Nintendo deserves to have success with both its consoles and games.

“Nintendo is such an instrumental part of our whole industry,” Soderlund told Game Informer. “They deserve to be successful, and they deserve to be a major player in the business, given their pedigree. It’s not only the machines that they’ve built, but also the IPs they’ve brought to market. There are very few companies like Nintendo.”

Regarding the NX (which is only a codename), Soderlund said that he could not share specifics due to the system not being formally announced yet. “Whenever they bring something to market that we see an addressable market for, we’ll be there.”

Soderlund said something similar in May, stating that EA would bring games to NX “if it made sense”, which it appears to be doing. He also said that at the time EA was in “constant communication” with Nintendo.

EA launched several titles for the Wii U during the early part of its release. These include Mass Effect 3, Need For Speed: Most Wanted, and new installments in both the Madden and FIFA franchises. The original Wii had 78 total titles from EA that were launched for the platform.
