Microsoft announced back in May that it had cancelled Project Spark, at which time it stopped allowing people to download the free Xbox One and PC game. Online services were kept up and running for a few months, but after today, August 12th, online support will be stopped.
“Without services, players will no longer be able to download user-generated content or upload their own creations,” Microsoft said, back in May, when announcing the shutdown.
Players who want to access user-generated content offline needed to download the content before today, August 12th, according to the shutdown announcement.
Even though the game shut down its services, there are no layoffs at Microsoft as a result. The game transitional to a free model last year, and many of the game’s developers moved on to other projects then.
“This was an extremely difficult decision for our team that we do not take lightly,” community manager Thomas Gratz said in May.
Project Spark brought Conker back to Xbox consoles, but before all of it could be released, the Conker DLC was cancelled when the game became free to play.
