Despite the fact that the game came out back in February 2012, Paradox Interactive isn’t done with Crusader Kings II just yet. They’ve just announced that a new DLC “The Reaper’s Due” is coming out at the end of August.
The Reaper’s Due is all about the Black Death, emphasizing it’s focal point in the history of the Middle Ages. This Crusader Kings II expansion brings an array of disease and medicine mechanics, plus specific challenges for player nobles to overcome. Everything in your Kingdom is at risk, and you’ll need to adjust accordingly in order to accommodate the spread of disease. (You can read more about the expansion’s features here)
But you don’t even need to buy the expansion in order to get some of the update’s benefits. A new patch is coming out alongside the DLC, that’ll be available for everyone. It’ll grant you new custom rules options, new options to auto-save, an overhauled interface to help better portray the succession of rulers, plus game optimization improvements and other balance tweaks.
The Reaper’s Due will be available on August 25th for PC, Mac, and Linux. To stay up to date with Crusader Kings II, check out the developer’s website, Twitter, and Facebook.
