Pokemon Go Plus Delayed Until September

July 27, 2016 by Dennis Patrick

Pokemon Go companion wristbands won’t be available until September.

The Pokemon Go craze is still at an all-time high as it’s becoming pretty common to see gamers out with their smartphones, hunting down Pokemon in the immediate area. One of the tools that would have helped gamers speed up the process of catching them all would have been the Pokemon Go Plus wristband. As it turns out, the release of this already highly desirable product for the Pokemon Go app has been delayed until September.

You likely recall the Pokemon Go Plus wristband as it was announced ahead of the Pokemon Go application. Essentially, this wristband would connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth and would vibrate when a Pokemon was available for capture. Gamers could then tap a button to automatically throw out a Pokeball.

This would have saved gamers some much-needed battery life as the application did have a tendency to drain smartphones quite easily due to screen time, data, and location services being active. However, the release date which was scheduled for sometime late July has now been pushed back to September according to the official Nintendo Twitter account.

The #PokemonGO Plus accessory will now be released Sept 2016 instead of the originally expected end of July launch. https://t.co/QgjZf1aAV6

It’s not stated just why the Pokemon Go Plus was delayed though it’s likely due to the high demand for these wristbands. Pre-orders for these devices went quickly and resellers have sold their pre-orders through online vendors such as eBay for triple the price.

This will put a damper in plenty of gamers day and it’s curious to see if the Pokemon Go craze is still as strong when September rolls around. We very well could see a decline in active users at that point if the development team Niantic fails to deliver new content.
