Sega Reveals Mega Drive Plug-and-Play Console

It might not be the next big generation console, but Sega is bringing back one of their classic systems into the market. Thanks to a press release sent out earlier today we’re finding out that Sega is bringing out the Mega Drive once again, but in a plug-in-play style. Interestingly enough, both Sega and Nintendo were big rivals in the past so it’s fitting to see the companies are releasing their miniature style retro consoles into the market once again.

This won’t be the first time we’ve seen Sega release a plug-and-play style of their Mega Drive console, but this will be the latest variation which is being manufactured by AtGames. Unlike the upcoming miniature release of the NES, the upcoming Sega Mega Drive will come with a portable version as well, allowing gamers on the go to once again enjoy some of the classics.

As for the home console version of the Mega Drive, the system will come with two wireless controllers that can be connected and charged through a USB charging cable. Additionally, the system will come with an SD slot and an original working cartridge slot, but will lack HDMI connections with gamers having to connect the system through composite hookups.

If you don’t own any original Sega cartridge games then you can enjoy the eighty titles that are built into the system, although, it does lack some fan favorite such as the Streets of Rage series and Gunstar Heroes.
