Analyst Believes Diablo III Will Sell Only 3.5-Million Copies by Year’s End

May 5, 2012 by Jacob Saylor

More lousy predictions.

Funnily enough, Michael Pachter is not the one opening his mouth this time. It is a new face: Stern Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia.

Bhatia has come out with some interesting statistics, noting that she believes Diablo III’s sales will meet street expectations regarding sales. On May 9th, Activision-Blizzard’s Q1 financial results will be revealed, and all information will be available to the public. Since the game has not even been released, it is obvious these numbers will be comprised of preorders.

Bhatia also spoke on her predictions for the game’s future. Bhatia expects that because the game is “releasing after a gap of 12 years,” is has the “potential to sell more than 4 million units life-time, including 3.5 million units this year.”

With the hype surrounding Diablo III, it is my prediction the game sells even more by the end of the year. How about that? Let us pit analyst against journalist: I predict the game will sell five-million by the end of the year.
