In Grave Danger, you’ll be alternating between three characters to dominate the game’s puzzles. There’s Dante the cowboy, Elliot the wizard, and Malice the reaper. They seem to all be on the screen at the same time, so you should be considerate about where you leave them. Don’t be surprised to find one of the heroes dead if you abandon them in a monster infested ditch by themselves. Elliot can double jump, Dante can climb vertical walls, and Malice can float over long pits and squeeze through narrow areas. Grave Danger is playable on your own, but it can also be taken on with a friend locally in multiplayer. The story of the game is that these three protagonists have all been labeled outlaws, and they need to travel forth and clear their names for good. The developers advertise the game as being a bit like The Lost Vikings combined with Castlevania and Mega Man.
With the game’s stretch goals, there’s the possibility of a fourth character being added to the trio. If this happens, it’ll apparently change the development process that goes into Grave Danger‘s level design. Further on, there’s the chance to expand the multiplayer offering to go online, instead of just local. Upwards, if the Kickstarter reaches $80,000 the development team would have the resources to make a fifth character and an additional world with it’s own set of levels. Finally at $100,000, Grave Danger gets an added boss fight challenge added to the end of each of world.
Grave Danger is set for a PC, Mac, and Linux release as early as Halloween of this year. But there’s also further plans to make the game a digital download for Wii U, Xbox One, and PS4, set to come around sometime in the middle of January next year.
