High Courts in Britain Order The Pirate Bay to be Blocked

April 30, 2012 by Andrew Kent

ISPs will be blocking the popular file sharing website.

The Pirate Bay is under siege once again, this time with the attack coming from Britain. The high court in Britain has ordered the service providers in that country to block the popular filsharing website because it infringes copyright laws. Among these ISPs were Sky and Virgin Media. This means that British pirates had better hurry and download all the pronz that they can because this block will take effect within weeks.

Obviously there is already some backlash from the pirate community but the decision still stands. Some , such as Jim Killock of the Open Rights Group, feel that blocking The Pirate Bay is “dangerous”.

Blocking The Pirate Bay is pointless and dangerous. It will fuel calls for further, wider and even more drastic calls for Internet censorship of many kinds, from pornography to extremism.

NO! NO JIM KILLOCK! NOT THE PRONZ.

Yes…even your precious pronz might be blocked. Since everything is about pronz then we all must stand up and fight on and on. We’ll call it the Last Great Pronz War. Just because it sounds cool. How many times can I use pronz in an article?

In all seriousness though, this is a big blow to file sharers and could possibly lead to further blocking as Killock says. The internet is a touchy realm and the subject of controlling it is quite controversial. While we want to protect the rights of the musicians and artists people feel that once they buy something it’s theirs to do with as they please. There’s also the controversy of “file sharing” here in the gaming community. Holy Noodliness, oh when will the world become like it is in Star Trek: TNG? I just want everyone to get along.
