Blizzard has released the latest video in their series of character profiles, which covers the wizard this time around. This master, or mistress as the case may be, of the arcane arts binds the elemental forces to her will and uses them to destroy her enemies.
The video tells the story of a young wizard who leaves the college of magic in Caldeum in pursuit of magical power, and to do battle against the forces of darkness. In addition to unleashing elemental forces, the wizard can bend time, space, and use arcane energies.
In battle, the wizard can damage entire groups of enemies at once with a variety of area-of-effect spells like Blizzard and Disintegrate.
The wizard relies on a pool of arcane power (as opposed to mana) that regenerates at a fast rate. Helpless without her arcane power, the wizard must always keep her distance from her enemies and use a shield that slows down enemy projectiles or teleport herself out of harm's way. Finally, she can forsake all forms of defense and transform herself into an archon, which is not unlike the Protoss archon in Starcraft.
