Retailer EKGaming Wants to Share Used Game Revenue with Publishers

April 24, 2012 by Jacob Saylor

A novel idea, indeed!

Game retailer EKGaming has shown out over the recent months. Their trade-in system is flourishing, and offers customers much more than the corporate machine of Gamestop. Just as an example, a game that is listed as being $60 new at their website will sell back for $40. They follow a strict rule of taking $20 off the "new" price, and paying you the difference.

In any case, the most recent development coming from EKGaming is in regards to their relationship with game publishers. They have promised to give back 10 percent of whatever funds they acquire through used game sales to these publishers. The video games industry – namely the publishers – has been fighting used game sales over the past year fervently, so this could be just the appeasement needed to stop anymore veritable bloodshed.

What do you think? Does EKGaming have the magic formula to both compete in the business world and maintain good friendships with game publishers? Let us know in the comments section below.
