Darksiders 2 Release Date Uncertain

April 11, 2012 by Ron Taylor

The release date of Darksiders 2 is in doubt, apparently.

Darksiders 2

While the final release date for Darksiders 2 has long been known and celebrated amongst fans (it's even coming to WiiU), it appears to have grown uncertain.

In an interview with RipTen (via Joystiq), THQ's EVP of Core Games, Danny Bilson commented on the games release, saying:

"We haven't announced anything… but the team is working really, really hard. We're not going to ship it before it's done." And this after being interrupted by a PR to confirm the release is in actuality not locked in as previously believed.

If you're like me and believe pretty much everything that's been said about THQ's allegedly dire financial situation, Bilson's comment can be paraphrased as, "We're running out of money so fast, even content complete projects are in jeopardy."

Let me save you some time and tell you that from here on out, nothing currently on THQ's plate is guaranteed to have that logo on it's box at release.

It's unfortunate, but despite constant denials, THQ indicates the reality of their financial woes almost every week at this point. They're working on some quality projects, though. It's my greatest hope they survive all this.

Editor: It's my understanding that while the game's release date is uncertain, the game is almost certainly going to be released by THQ regardless of its financial problems. Consider any news regarding the uncertain release of the game a matter of speculation.

We got in touch with Michael Futter, who conducted the interview with THQ's Danny Bilson. This is what he had to say regarding the matter:

“…in the context of the interview, at no time did I ever get the sense from Danny or the other rep that Darksiders II would not ship with THQ as the publisher. There is a significant difference between running out of capital and having your stock prices trade so low that you are at risk of being delisted.”
