Massive Attack Producer Neil Davidge Scores Halo 4

April 11, 2012 by Ian Miles Cheong

Halo 4 will feature an all new soundtrack with the support of Neil Davidge.

343 Industries, the developers of the new Halo trilogy (which begins with Halo 4) have put out a new video showing off the game's compositions, which sound nothing like the original trilogy.

Gone are the game's Gregorian chants, replaced by something completely new—or 'honest' and 'fresh' as the new composers say. It's hard to describe, so you'll have to listen to it for yourself.

The score is said to be lyrical, emotional, and the "melding of the classical with the unexpected." The music will be scored by Massive Attack producer Neil Davidge, making Halo 4's music one of a kind.

The game's compositions are showcased in 343's new "Composing Worlds" featurette, which goes into detail about how the music of Halo 4 came about, and how they'll complement the integrity of the game itself.
